Destruction Services

WEEE Destruction

The destruction service for recyclable materials usually refers to the management and destruction of waste that can be recycled but is not suitable for further processing or reuse. This service may include:

  1. Collection and sorting: Materials intended for destruction are collected and sorted to ensure that they are recyclable materials, such as electronic waste, paper, plastics, metals, glass, etc.
  2. Destruction: This process involves the safe and environmentally responsible destruction of materials that cannot be recycled due to damage, contamination, or other factors.
  3. Waste recycling: Where possible, parts of these materials may be reused or recycled, while the remaining materials may be converted into energy or disposed of safely.
  4. Data protection: Especially for businesses that destroy documents, the recyclable materials destruction service can ensure the destruction of confidential information in a way that protects data security.

These types of services are provided by specialized companies in the field of waste management and recycling.

Our company undertakes all types of destruction of WEEE and objects-goods, with the purpose of preventing their reuse or preventing the recovery of their data. We can also destroy WEEE-goods originating from illegal customs clearance.

The destruction of hard drives and other data-bearing media using a hammer mill is one of the most effective and secure methods for ensuring the permanent deletion of data.

The process is as follows:

  1. Collection and preparation

Hard drives and other data-bearing media are collected by the specialized personnel of OIKO-KYKLIOS and inspected to confirm that they are ready for destruction. They are stored in a secure area within our facilities, in a location monitored by cameras. In order to be destroyed, they are removed from devices, such as computers or external enclosures, and any peripheral components and circuit boards that are not necessary for the destruction process are removed.

  1. Hammer mill equipment

The hammer mill is a specialized machine equipped with powerful metal hammers designed to crush metals, hard drives, and other materials. Modern hammer mills can handle hard drives and data storage devices of different types, such as HDDs and SSDs, as well as various sizes.

  1. Shredding process

Hard drives and other data storage devices are placed into the hammer mill, where they are subjected to intense pressure and crushing. The drive is destroyed into small pieces, making data recovery impossible. Especially for SSDs, destruction into extremely small fragments is important due to the way data is stored.

The destruction of hard drives constitutes the final and most critical stage in comprehensive data destruction, ensuring that sensitive information can never be recovered. Through the physical dismantling of storage media, such as shredding or complete crushing access to the data becomes technically impossible.

This radical process is essential for businesses and organizations, as simple formatting or file deletion leaves digital traces accessible to malicious software. By permanently eliminating the drives, corporate secrets and customers’ personal data are protected, while full compliance with strict security regulations (GDPR) is achieved.

  1. Compliance with ISO 27001

Our company is certified according to the ISO 27001 standard. This specific data destruction method is fully compatible with the ISO 27001 standard, which concerns information security management. The implementation of this process guarantees that data is destroyed in a secure and controlled manner, in accordance with the requirements of the international standard for the protection of sensitive information. This compliance is particularly important for organizations that wish to ensure the confidentiality and security of their data.

  1. Management of residues

The residues resulting from the process are collected and separated for recycling, where feasible. Metals and other materials are forwarded to specialized recycling facilities, contributing to waste reduction.

  1. Security and documentation

During the process, strict security protocols are followed to protect the data. Upon request, the client is provided with a certificate of destruction as proof that the hard drives have been fully and securely destroyed.

The use of a hammer mill, combined with compliance with international standards, ensures the complete and irreversible destruction of data, making this method ideal for businesses and organizations that manage sensitive information.
